Welcome To Royal Wellington Golf Club

Royal Wellington Golf Club is one of New Zealand's premier golf clubs. Founded in 1895 on a site on the Miramar peninsular, the then Wellington Golf Club moved to Heretaunga over 100 years ago. Situated on a parkland site adjacent to the Hutt River, the club has hosted seven NZ Open Championships since 1912 and in 2004 became the first golf club in the country to receive Royal status. Royal Wellington is noted as being among the finest parkland golf environments in Australasia. The course has some of the last remnants of native podocarp river plain forest as a back drop to many of the holes. An environment cherished by members, it is also much admired and appreciated by visitors. Its current par 72 18 hole championship course is a demanding test of golf for players of all standards. The Club is currently developing nine new championship holes after which it will redevelop the existing 18 hole course. Once finished, the new 27 hole Championship course is expected to ensure the Royal Wellington Golf Club course maintains its place in the top tier of Australasian courses.
